The Best Rated Laptops Under 500
If you’re looking for the best rated laptops under 500 dollars then you really need to be careful when you’re comparing laptops using different rating systems. Different websites will use different scoring systems which can give you a distorted comparison and cause you to end up with a lower quality laptop.
For example we review some of the best laptops under 500 and our scoring system is based accordingly. But if you’re comparing a $2500 laptop against one which will cost you $450 then your rating system is going to need to take this into account and most don’t.
Best Rated Laptops Under 500 Dollars First Hand
You also need to be careful that you’re looking at the right thing between second hand and first hand laptops. It’s not always a bad idea to get a second hand laptop but it can be a little riskier and rating systems need to work in the difference here as well.
You might sometimes get a better deal, but other times you might end up wasting money on something destined to break down quickly without a refund. In our opinion, the best rated laptops should probably last longer than the time it takes you to get home.
If you’re going to compare pre-owned laptops that’s fine, and if you’re going to compare first hand laptops that’s fine too. But if you’re going to compare the two together than you can’t just go by price or specs, you need to consider the warranties and reliability of the source. Rating systems have to reflect this and if they don’t then they’re potentially putting you at risk of getting a poor quality laptop.
So, with so many review sites not using a rating system properly, just how do you find the best rated laptops under 500?
Finding the Best Rated Laptops Under 500
Well I’ll tell you how we find them, and it’s really the best way to find anything online. Don’t base it on reviews you read on a website, but on reviews from actual reviews. Now I don’t mean ignore review sites completely, they’re a great way to find some great suggestions to look at but once you have a suggestion you look for reviews for the laptop from people who have used it.
And I don’t mean the one or two people from the review site – I mean the 100+ people who leave reviews for it. Now if you’re buying the laptop in a shop you can look around forums I guess and hope you’re getting someone saying something useful OR you can go to somewhere like Amazon which not only saves you money but gives you reviews from previous buyers.
That’s how you really know you’re getting something good quality if 500 odd people have said ‘this is great!’ then it’s probably a safe bet you’re looking at one of the best rated laptops under 500. No matter how good we think a laptop is, without a lot of great reviews we’ll never consider it one of the best laptops under 500 dollars and it’ll never be on our lists.
So take a look for yourself, you can see some of the best rated laptops under 500 at the top right of the page and each one has loads of great reviews.
